Ingredients

I find 130g sugar to 6 lemons to be sweet enough without being sickly. It's a personal choice though, so experiment.

Method

You will need a 1.5l drinks bottle.

  1. Mix the 130g sugar with water, and heat up until it dissolves.
  2. While that's happening, squeeze the juice from the 6 lemons.
  3. Once the sugar has dissolved, mix in more cold water to bring it down to a warmish temperature.
  4. Pour everything into the 1.5l drinks bottle, and fill to the top with more cold water.
  5. Put in the fridge until cold.

To serve, I like to dilute half-and-half with water. This also allows those who like their lemonade fizzy to dilute with fizzy water.

Notes

You don't need anything special to juice the lemons: a serrated knife and a pair of clean hands will do fine. However, I would suggest juicing each lemon half into a bowl, removing the seeds, then pouring the de-seeded juice into a jug. The alternative is to use a sieve, which also removes all the nice fleshy bits.
